Sun Requirements ▾
Requires full sun—at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily.
Performs best in bright, dry locations with plenty of airflow.
Indoors, place in a south-facing window or under grow lights.
Watering Instructions ▾
Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry.
Thyme prefers drier conditions and is drought-tolerant once established.
Avoid overwatering or waterlogged soil, especially in containers.
Care Tips ▾
Soil:
Thrives in well-draining, sandy or gritty soil with a slightly alkaline to neutral pH (6.5–7.5).
For pots, use a cactus or Mediterranean herb mix, or amend potting soil with sand or perlite.
Excellent drainage is essential.
Fertilizer:
Feed lightly every 6–8 weeks during the growing season with a diluted, balanced fertilizer or compost tea.
Too much fertilizer may reduce thyme’s aroma and flavor intensity.
