Chain Plant
The Chain Plant (Peperomia columella, sometimes listed as Peperomia navicularis) is a quirky, architectural houseplant known for its stacked, boat-shaped leaves that grow along upright stems—resembling a miniature green tower or living chain. Compact and eye-catching, this semi-succulent peperomia is a favorite for small-space styling, windowsill gardens, and modern containers. Best of all, it’s pet-safe and incredibly low-maintenance.

Sun Requirements ▾
Prefers bright, indirect light and can handle some gentle morning sun. Avoid harsh, direct midday sun, which can scorch the leaves. Low light will slow growth and stretch out the plant.
Watering Instructions ▾
Water sparingly. Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering is the most common cause of decline—err on the dry side.
Care Tips ▾
Soil:
Needs very well-draining soil. Use a cactus or succulent mix, or combine regular potting soil with sand, pumice, or perlite for extra aeration.
Fertilizer:
Feed every 4–6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a diluted succulent or cactus fertilizer. Do not fertilize in fall or winter.
Humidity:
Prefers low to average humidity. No misting required. Great for homes with dry air or succulent-friendly conditions.
