Sun Requirements ▾
This plant thrives in bright, indirect light but can also tolerate medium light conditions. While it adapts well indoors, avoid placing it in low-light corners for extended periods, as this may lead to leaf drop. Filtered sunlight from an east- or west-facing window is ideal.
Watering Instructions ▾
Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry to the touch. Typically, this means watering every 7–10 days, depending on your environment. Ensure the pot has good drainage and never allow the plant to sit in standing water, as ficus roots are sensitive to overwatering. Reduce watering slightly in winter when growth slows.
Care Tips ▾
Temperature & Humidity: Prefers warm, stable conditions (65–85°F / 18–29°C) and moderate humidity. Avoid cold drafts, air conditioning vents, or sudden temperature changes.
Potting Medium: A well-draining potting mix with peat, perlite, and compost provides the best balance for root health.
Fertilizing: Feed every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength. Pause fertilization in fall and winter.
Pruning & Maintenance: Trim to shape and control size as needed. Regular pruning also encourages bushier growth and helps maintain its compact form.
Growth Habit: A moderate grower indoors, it can be maintained as a compact bush or allowed to develop into a small indoor tree over time.
