The Ghost Chili Pepper Plant, also known as Bhut Jolokia and botanically classified as Capsicum chinense, is an extremely hot edible pepper plant prized for its intense heat and bold flavour. These plants are grown in-house by Urbane Eight using seeds from West Coast Seeds, ensuring strong genetics, healthy growth, and reliable pepper production. Ghost peppers are widely known for their fiery heat and are commonly used sparingly in hot sauces, powders, and cooking applications that require extreme spice.It is one of the hottest peppers in the world, measuring over 1 million Scoville Heat Units (SHU). Its heat typically ranges between 855,000 and 1,041,427+ SHU, making it the first pepper ever officially recorded to surpass the 1 million SHU mark. Ghost peppers are over 100 times hotter than a jalapeño and are most commonly used in hot sauces, powders, and extreme heat challenges rather than eaten raw.
Ghost chili plants produce elongated, wrinkled peppers that mature from green to red as they ripen. While famous for their heat, the peppers also carry subtle fruity and smoky notes when fully mature. These plants can be grown indoors in bright conditions or transitioned outdoors for garden or patio growing once temperatures are consistently warm.
