It typically measures between 100,000 and 350,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), placing it significantly hotter than a jalapeño but milder than super-hot peppers like the ghost pepper. Habaneros are commonly used in hot sauces, salsas, and marinades, where their bold heat and flavor can shine without overwhelming a dish when used carefully.
Habanero plants are compact yet highly productive, featuring deep green foliage and small white flowers that develop into vibrant peppers as the plant matures. While known for their heat, the peppers also offer a distinct citrus-like sweetness when fully ripened.
