Peperomia Ruebella

Peperomia Ruebella

The Peperomia rubella, often called Peperomia Ruebella, is a charming miniature trailing plant native to Jamaica. Adored for its tiny, oval-shaped leaves—deep green on top and rich red beneath—it offers a striking color contrast that brings warmth and texture to any display.

Compact and slow-growing, this petite tropical is perfect for terrariums, small planters, or hanging baskets. Its graceful trailing habit makes it ideal for shelves and windowsills, while its jewel-toned foliage adds an elegant touch to both minimalist and lush plant collections.

Sun Requirements ▾

Prefers bright, indirect light for the best color and growth. Can tolerate medium light, but leaves may lose vibrancy. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch its tiny leaves.

Watering Instructions ▾

Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Prefers to stay slightly on the drier side—overwatering can cause root rot. Use the “soak and dry” method: water thoroughly, then allow excess water to drain.

Care Tips ▾

Needs a well-draining potting mix, ideally a blend of peat, perlite, and orchid bark. Fertilize every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer with a diluted liquid houseplant fertilizer. No feeding needed in fall and winter.
