Hoya Sarawak (Hoya sp. 'Sarawak')
Hoya Sarawak (Hoya sp. 'Sarawak')
Hoya Sarawak (Hoya sp. 'Sarawak') is a rare tropical climbing houseplant admired for its exceptionally large, thick, glossy green leaves and vigorous growth habit. Native to the rainforests of Sarawak, Malaysia, this collector-favourite Hoya develops lush trailing or climbing vines that create a dramatic tropical display while remaining relatively easy to care for indoors.
The oversized, leathery foliage gives this species an impressive architectural appearance, with each leaf displaying a rich green colour and subtle veining. As the plant matures under ideal conditions, it produces rounded clusters of waxy, star-shaped flowers that are creamy white to soft pink with contrasting centres. The blooms are highly fragrant, especially during the evening, and produce small droplets of sweet nectar that are characteristic of many Hoyas.
Hoya Sarawak performs beautifully in hanging baskets, decorative pots, moss poles, trellises, and indoor plant shelves. It pairs exceptionally well with Monstera, Philodendron, Scindapsus, Epipremnum, Anthurium, and other tropical climbing plants, creating lush indoor displays filled with varying leaf shapes and textures.
