Persian Lime Tree
Persian Lime Tree
The Persian Lime Tree, also known as the Tahiti Lime Tree, is a classic fruiting citrus prized for its fragrant blossoms and large, seedless limes. Unlike the smaller and more tart Key limes, Persian limes are full-sized, juicy, and slightly less acidic—making them perfect for cocktails, cooking, and fresh use. With its glossy evergreen foliage, aromatic white flowers, and abundant fruit, the Persian Lime Tree is both ornamental and practical, bringing tropical beauty and flavor to patios, gardens, or bright indoor spaces.

Sun Requirements ▾
Persian lime trees thrive in full sun, needing 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Indoors, place the tree in the brightest location available, ideally near a south-facing window, or use a grow light for best results. Outdoors, it flourishes in sunny spots on patios, balconies, or gardens.
Watering Instructions ▾
Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry, ensuring the soil is evenly moist but never soggy. Citrus roots are sensitive to overwatering, so always allow excess water to drain away. During the growing season (spring and summer), water more frequently, and reduce slightly in cooler months when growth slows.
Care Tips ▾
Temperature & Humidity: Best grown in warm conditions (65–85°F / 18–29°C). Protect from frost by bringing indoors if temperatures drop below 50°F (10°C). Moderate household humidity is fine, though higher humidity supports stronger growth.
Potting Medium: A sandy, well-draining citrus mix or cactus blend is ideal. If grown in containers, ensure proper drainage.
Fertilizing: Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a citrus-specific fertilizer for vigorous growth and reliable fruiting. Pause feeding in fall and winter.
Pruning & Maintenance: Prune lightly to maintain shape, encourage airflow, and stimulate branching for more fruit. Remove dead or weak stems as needed.
Growth Habit: A compact, container-friendly tree that grows larger than the Key lime but still manageable indoors, producing plentiful limes with the right care.
