Proven Winners® ‘Lemon Coral’ Sedum (Sedum mexicanum)

Proven Winners® ‘Lemon Coral’ Sedum (Sedum mexicanum)

Proven Winners® ‘Lemon Coral’ Sedum (Sedum mexicanum) is a vibrant, low-growing succulent known for its fine-textured, bright chartreuse foliage. This variety forms a dense, spreading mound that adds bold colour and soft texture to containers, hanging baskets, and garden edges.

Lemon Coral is valued for its heat tolerance, drought resistance once established, and adaptability to a wide range of growing conditions. Its trailing to mounded habit makes it an excellent spiller in mixed containers, where it contrasts well with flowering annuals and other foliage plants.

In Alberta, Lemon Coral sedum is grown as an annual and performs exceptionally well in hot, sunny conditions. It provides consistent colour throughout the season without the need for deadheading and requires minimal maintenance once established.

Sun Requirements ▾

Full sun to part sun. Full sun promotes the brightest chartreuse foliage colour and most compact growth. Plants also perform well in partial sun, especially during hot summer afternoons. Provide at least 4–6 hours of sunlight daily for optimal colour and performance.

Watering Instructions ▾

Low to Moderate. Allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Once established, Lemon Coral is drought tolerant and performs best in well-drained soil.

Care Tips ▾

Trim lightly if needed to maintain shape or encourage denser growth. Avoid overly wet soil, especially in containers, as sedums prefer good drainage. A moisture meter is a great way to gauge your plant's moisture levels.
