Proven Winners® Pink Chenille Bee Balm (Monarda)

Proven Winners® Pink Chenille Bee Balm (Monarda)

Proven Winners® Pink Chenille Bee Balm (Monarda didyma ‘Pink Chenille’) is a beautiful perennial prized for its soft pink, shaggy flower clusters, sturdy upright habit, and exceptional pollinator appeal. Part of the Proven Winners® collection, this improved selection produces masses of fluffy, chenille-like pink blooms from early through midsummer, bringing elegant colour and texture to perennial borders, cottage gardens, and pollinator landscapes.

The aromatic deep green foliage forms a dense, upright clump that remains attractive throughout the growing season. The nectar-rich flowers are highly attractive to hummingbirds, butterflies, bees, and other beneficial pollinators, making Pink Chenille an excellent choice for wildlife-friendly gardens. The long-lasting blooms are also outstanding for fresh-cut flower arrangements, adding both colour and texture to bouquets.

Pink Chenille Bee Balm performs best in fertile, consistently moist, well-drained soil with good air circulation. Its sturdy stems resist flopping, while its improved resistance to powdery mildew helps keep the foliage healthy and attractive throughout the season. It combines beautifully with echinacea, phlox, rudbeckia, salvia, ornamental grasses, and other sun-loving perennials to create vibrant summer displays.

In Alberta, Proven Winners® Pink Chenille Bee Balm is a hardy perennial that returns reliably each spring, providing weeks of colourful blooms and exceptional pollinator value.

Sun Requirements ▾

Full sun to part shade. Plant in a location receiving at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily for the best flowering. Light afternoon shade is beneficial in hotter locations and helps reduce moisture stress.

Watering Instructions ▾

Moderate. Keep the soil consistently moist but well-drained, especially during hot, dry weather. Avoid allowing the soil to dry out completely while preventing prolonged waterlogged conditions.

Care Tips ▾

Deadhead spent flowers to maintain a tidy appearance and encourage additional blooming when conditions allow. Divide mature clumps every three to four years in spring or fall to maintain plant vigour and improve air circulation. A moisture meter is a great way to gauge your plant's moisture levels.
