Proven Winners® Violet Profusion Salvia (Salvia nemorosa ‘Violet Profusion’)

Proven Winners® Violet Profusion Salvia (Salvia nemorosa ‘Violet Profusion’) is a vigorous, long-blooming perennial known for its intense violet-purple flower spikes and exceptional garden performance. This salvia produces dense blooms from late spring into summer, creating strong colour impact while attracting pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.

The compact, mounded growth habit makes it suitable for borders, edging, mass planting, and pollinator gardens. Its aromatic foliage helps deter deer while providing attractive texture throughout the growing season. The Violet Profusion variety is particularly valued for its strong reblooming ability and durable performance in hot, sunny conditions.

In Alberta, Violet Profusion Salvia thrives in full sun with well-drained soil and demonstrates excellent drought tolerance once established. It is an ideal perennial for Prairie gardens where low maintenance and reliable seasonal colour are priorities.

Sun Requirements ▾

Full sun. Plant in a location receiving at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Full sun promotes compact growth, sturdy stems, and abundant flowering.

Watering Instructions ▾

Low to Moderate. Water regularly during establishment. Once established, allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. This salvia is drought tolerant but performs best with occasional deep watering during prolonged dry periods.

Care Tips ▾

Remove spent flower spikes after the first flush of blooms to encourage repeat flowering throughout the season. Cut plants back in late fall or early spring before new growth emerges. Divide mature clumps every three to four years to maintain vigour and flowering performance. A moisture meter is a great way to gauge your plant's moisture levels.
