Spaghetti Squash (Cucurbita pepo)
Spaghetti Squash (Cucurbita pepo)
Spaghetti Squash is a popular garden vegetable known for its unique, string-like flesh that separates into noodle-like strands when cooked. This Cucurbita pepo variety is both productive and easy to grow.
This plant develops as a sprawling vine and produces medium to large yellow squash throughout the season. It is ideal for baking, roasting, and as a pasta alternative.
Spaghetti Squash is well-suited for garden beds and larger growing spaces where vines have room to spread and produce abundant harvests.

Sun Requirements ▾
Full sun. Plant in a location receiving at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Full sun promotes vigorous vine growth, abundant flowering, and maximum fruit production.
Watering Instructions ▾
Moderate to High. Water deeply and consistently, especially during flowering and fruit development. Keep the soil evenly moist while avoiding prolonged wet foliage to help reduce the risk of disease.
Care Tips ▾
Harvest fruits only after the rind has hardened and developed a deep golden-yellow colour. Leave several centimetres of stem attached when harvesting and cure the squash in a warm, dry location for 10–14 days to improve flavour and extend storage life. A moisture meter is a great way to gauge your plant's moisture levels.
