Sweetunia Windmill Burgundy Petunia (Petunia)

Sweetunia Windmill Burgundy Petunia (Petunia)

Sweetunia® Windmill Burgundy Petunia (Petunia hybrida ‘Sweetunia® Windmill Burgundy’) is a premium trailing petunia prized for its unique pinwheel-patterned blooms in rich shades of burgundy, wine-red, and creamy white. The striking bicolour flowers create a dramatic swirling effect, adding exceptional colour and texture to hanging baskets, patio containers, window boxes, and sunny landscape beds throughout the growing season.

This vigorous variety develops a well-branched, mounding to trailing habit that quickly fills containers with masses of blooms from late spring until the first hard frost. Unlike many older petunia varieties, Sweetunia® Windmill Burgundy offers excellent weather tolerance and self-cleaning flowers that remain attractive without frequent deadheading. Its continuous flowering provides reliable season-long colour with minimal maintenance.

The nectar-rich blooms attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators while pairing beautifully with calibrachoa, verbena, bacopa, sweet potato vine, and other annuals. Whether spilling gracefully over the edge of a hanging basket or adding vibrant colour to landscape borders, Sweetunia® Windmill Burgundy delivers outstanding garden performance.

In Alberta, Sweetunia® Windmill Burgundy thrives in sunny locations and provides months of continuous blooms until autumn frost.

Sun Requirements ▾

Full sun. Plant in a location receiving at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Full sun promotes the heaviest flowering, richest flower colour, and the most compact, vigorous growth.

Watering Instructions ▾

Moderate. Water thoroughly when the top few centimetres of soil begin to dry. Container-grown plants may require daily watering during periods of hot summer weather. Avoid prolonged soggy soil.

Care Tips ▾

Fertilize regularly throughout the growing season with a balanced flowering plant fertilizer to encourage continuous blooming. Light trimming in midsummer can refresh the plant and promote a new flush of vigorous growth and flowers. A moisture meter is a great way to gauge your plant's moisture levels.
