Swirski-Mite – Amblyseius swirskii Predatory Mites for Thrips & Whiteflies
Swirski-Mite contains live Amblyseius swirskii, a highly effective predatory mite used for the biological control of thrips, whiteflies, and broad mites in greenhouse, nursery, and indoor growing environments. This beneficial insect is widely used in integrated pest management (IPM) programs due to its ability to establish early and provide consistent pest suppression without the use of chemical pesticides.
Amblyseius swirskii actively searches plant foliage for prey and feeds primarily on thrips larvae, whitefly eggs and young larvae, and broad mites. Unlike specialist predators, this species can also survive on pollen when pest populations are low, allowing it to remain active and established on crops before infestations occur. This makes Swirski-Mite especially effective as a preventative biological control solution.
Swirski-Mite is best applied preventatively or at the first signs of pest activity. Gently rotate the bottle before application to evenly distribute the mites, then sprinkle them directly onto plant foliage or into distribution boxes placed on plants. Avoid applying during extreme temperatures or direct sunlight to ensure optimal establishment and performance.
This predatory mite performs best in warm growing conditions, thriving in temperatures between 20–32°C (68–90°F) with moderate humidity. Swirski-Mite should be applied soon after delivery and should not be refrigerated, as improper storage can reduce effectiveness.
Swirski-Mite is well suited for use on ornamental plants, vegetables, and indoor plant collections, and is an excellent choice for growers seeking a natural, chemical-free approach to pest control within an IPM or organic growing system.
