Walker Weeping Caragana (Caragana arborescens ‘Walker’)
Walker Weeping Caragana (Caragana arborescens ‘Walker’)
Walker Weeping Caragana (Caragana arborescens ‘Walker’) is a distinctive, grafted ornamental tree known for its finely textured foliage and elegant, cascading branches. This narrow, weeping form creates a graceful, umbrella-like silhouette, making it an excellent focal point in smaller landscapes.
Unlike the broader ‘Pendula’ form, Walker features a more upright trunk with finely cut, fern-like leaves that give it a lighter, more refined appearance. In spring, it produces small yellow pea-like flowers, followed by seed pods typical of the species.
Exceptionally well-suited to Prairie conditions, Walker Weeping Caragana is highly tolerant of cold, wind, drought, and poor soils once established. It is widely used in Alberta landscapes where durability and low maintenance are essential.
