Alocasia Cucullata Variegated

Alocasia Cucullata Variegated

Bring an ethereal touch to your indoor jungle with the Variegated Alocasia cucullata, also known as the "Buddha’s Hand". This rare cultivar features broad, heart-shaped leaves with creamy-white and lime-green marbling, setting it apart from its solid green cousin. The softly undulating leaf edges and upright stems give the plant a gentle, sculptural presence—perfect for adding zen and drama to your plant styling.

Highly prized among collectors, this variegated Alocasia is both ornamental and symbolic, often associated with luck and prosperity in Southeast Asian culture. Despite its exotic look, it’s relatively compact, making it a stunning choice for tabletop displays, altar spaces, or as a luminous accent in any bright room.

Sun Requirements ▾

Bright, indirect light is ideal. More light = better variegation, but keep it out of direct sun to avoid burning those pale patches.

Watering Instructions ▾

Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry. Don’t let it dry out completely, but also don’t let it sit in water—this plant prefers moist, not marshy. Humidity: This one appreciates humidity in the 50–60%+ range. While it’s more tolerant than some other Alocasias, a boost in moisture always helps it thrive.

Care Tips ▾

Temperature: 18–27°C (65–80°F) is its happy place. Avoid cold drafts or hot, dry air that’ll mess with its chill. Soil: A light, airy mix is best—think perlite, orchid bark, and coco coir. Good drainage is essential to keep roots from sulking. Feeding: Once a month in spring and summer with a diluted, balanced fertilizer. It’s not super demanding, but it loves a little snack now and then.
