Alocasia Cucullata Variegated

Alocasia Cucullata Variegated

Rare • Humble Yet Striking

Meet the Variegated Alocasia Cucullata, also known as the “Buddha’s Hand” plant—because of the gentle cupping shape of its foliage and the peaceful presence it brings to a space. Now add creamy-white variegation to those lush, heart-shaped leaves, and you’ve got yourself a calm little showoff that stands out without yelling about it.

Why It’s Rare:
Cucullata is typically a hardy, humble Alocasia—often overlooked in favor of her flashier cousins. But throw natural variegation into the mix? Now we’re talking serious collector energy. Because this mutation is unpredictable and propagated slowly, variegated Cucullatas remain rare and highly sought after by plant lovers who appreciate a soft stunner.

Sun Requirements ▾

Bright, indirect light is ideal. More light = better variegation, but keep it out of direct sun to avoid burning those pale patches.

Watering Instructions ▾

Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry. Don’t let it dry out completely, but also don’t let it sit in water—this plant prefers moist, not marshy. Humidity: This one appreciates humidity in the 50–60%+ range. While it’s more tolerant than some other Alocasias, a boost in moisture always helps it thrive.

Care Tips ▾

Temperature: 18–27°C (65–80°F) is its happy place. Avoid cold drafts or hot, dry air that’ll mess with its chill. Soil: A light, airy mix is best—think perlite, orchid bark, and coco coir. Good drainage is essential to keep roots from sulking. Feeding: Once a month in spring and summer with a diluted, balanced fertilizer. It’s not super demanding, but it loves a little snack now and then.
