Full sun. Plant where American Gold Rush receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day. Abundant sunshine encourages dense, sturdy growth and prolific flowering. Light partial shade can be tolerated, but plants may produce fewer flowers and develop a more open habit.

Watering Instructions ▾

Low to moderate. Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a strong root system. Once established, American Gold Rush has good drought tolerance but flowers and grows best with occasional deep watering during extended hot, dry periods. Allow the upper portion of the soil to dry somewhat between waterings and avoid waterlogged conditions.

Care Tips ▾

Deadhead spent flowers if a tidier appearance or continued flowering is desired, or leave some seed heads standing through fall and winter to provide food for birds and seasonal garden interest. Cut old stems back in late fall or early spring. Once established, plants require relatively little maintenance. A moisture meter is a great way to gauge your plant's moisture levels.
