Sun Requirements ▾
he Fishbone Cactus prefers bright, indirect light, and it can handle a little early morning or late afternoon sun. Too much direct sunlight can scorch its unique stems, so filtered light or dappled shade is best. It will grow happily near an east- or north-facing window indoors.
Watering Instructions ▾
Unlike desert cacti, the Fishbone Cactus enjoys a bit more moisture. Water when the top inch or so of soil feels dry, and make sure to use well-draining soil and a pot with drainage holes. It prefers slightly higher humidity and will appreciate occasional misting in drier environments. Water less in winter when growth slows.
Care Tips ▾
This cactus is a tropical epiphyte, meaning it naturally grows in tree canopies. It thrives in a chunky, airy potting mix like cactus soil blended with orchid bark or perlite. As it matures, it may produce fragrant, night-blooming flowers—bonus! It's easy to propagate from stem cuttings and enjoys being slightly root-bound.
