Glacier™ Red Rock Cress (Aubrieta gracilis ‘Glacier Red’)

Glacier™ Red Rock Cress (Aubrieta gracilis ‘Glacier Red’) is a low-growing, early-flowering perennial known for its vibrant red to reddish-purple blooms that create a dense carpet of colour in spring. This variety forms a compact mat of evergreen foliage, making it an excellent groundcover for rock gardens, borders, and cascading over walls.

Blooming in early to mid-spring, Glacier™ Red produces masses of small flowers that nearly cover the foliage, delivering one of the earliest displays of colour in the garden. Its trailing habit allows it to spill naturally over edges, making it especially effective in alpine plantings and raised beds.

Well-suited to Alberta’s climate, aubrieta is a hardy perennial that thrives in sunny, well-drained locations. It performs reliably in Prairie conditions, particularly where drainage is excellent and winter moisture is limited.
