Hoya Caudata 'Sumatra'
Hoya 'Sunmatra' is a rare, visually striking hoya hybrid admired for its glossy green leaves splashed with silver-gray flecks and a slightly elongated, lance-shaped form. Its elegant, trailing vines and silvery variegation create a shimmering, soft-textured effect—perfect for plant stylists and collectors looking for a foliage-forward showpiece.
This Hoya thrives in bright indoor spaces and, when mature, may produce clusters of star-shaped, fragrant flowers, typical of the Hoya family. Sun Requirements ▾
To thrive, the Hoya Sunmatra needs bright, indirect light. A soft reception from an east- or west-facing window is ideal—too much direct sun can scorch its leaves, while dim lighting can slow growth and hinder flowering.
Watering Instructions ▾
Water thoroughly, then allow the top 2 inches of soil to dry out before your next watering. A light, well-draining potting mix (such as orchid bark blended with perlite and peat) works best to prevent root rot. Like many epiphytic Hoyas, this one appreciates a deep soak followed by a drying period.
Care Tips ▾
This plant loves warm indoor temperatures (65–85 °F / 18–29 °C) and moderate to high humidity. Occasional misting or a nearby humidifier can boost its health. Feed with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer monthly during the active growing season (spring and summer). Repot sparingly—Hoya Sunmatra tolerates being slightly root-bound and often thrives when left in smaller pots.
