Delphina® Dark Blue White Bee Larkspur (Delphinium elatum ‘Delphina® Dark Blue White Bee’)

Delphina® Dark Blue White Bee Larkspur (Delphinium elatum ‘Delphina® Dark Blue White Bee’)

Delphina® Dark Blue White Bee Larkspur (Delphinium elatum ‘Delphina® Dark Blue White Bee’) is a stunning compact delphinium prized for its rich deep blue flower spikes accented by bright white centres, known as "bees." This elegant perennial produces densely packed blooms on strong stems, creating dramatic vertical interest in borders, cottage gardens, pollinator plantings, and mixed perennial beds.

The striking flower spikes rise above attractive green foliage and provide weeks of vibrant colour during the summer. The deep blue petals and contrasting white centres create a classic delphinium appearance that pairs beautifully with roses, peonies, daisies, salvia, and other sun-loving perennials. The flowers are highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators while also making excellent cut flowers for fresh floral arrangements.

Unlike many traditional delphiniums, the Delphina® series offers a more compact, sturdy growth habit with improved branching and exceptional flower production. Its manageable size makes it easier to incorporate into smaller gardens and containers while still delivering the dramatic beauty delphiniums are known for.

In Alberta, Delphina® Dark Blue White Bee performs exceptionally well in sunny garden locations, returning each year with impressive blooms and reliable garden presence.

Sun Requirements ▾

Full sun is ideal for strong stems and abundant flowering. Plant in a location that receives at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily. In Alberta, light afternoon shade can be beneficial during periods of extreme summer heat while still supporting excellent bloom production.

Watering Instructions ▾

Moderate. Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Delphiniums perform best with regular watering, particularly during hot weather and flowering periods.

Care Tips ▾

Remove spent flower spikes after blooming to encourage additional flowering and maintain a tidy appearance. Apply mulch around the base to help conserve soil moisture and protect roots. A moisture meter is a great way to gauge your plant's moisture levels.
