LECA (Lightweight Expanded Clay Aggregate)
Improves Root Health | Prevents Root Rot | Reusable Growing Medium
LECA, or Lightweight Expanded Clay Aggregate, is a versatile growing medium that creates the perfect balance of airflow, hydration, and root support. Its porous clay balls allow oxygen to circulate around roots while slowly releasing water, preventing root rot and making plant care easier. LECA is widely used for hydroponics, semi-hydroponics, and soil-free growing, as well as a soil amendment for better drainage.
Best Uses
-
Rooting Cuttings: Place 1–2 cups of LECA in a shallow container, add ½ cup of water, insert cuttings, and allow roots to develop.
-
Planter Drainage: Add a layer at the bottom of pots (especially those without drainage holes) to reduce waterlogging.
-
Semi-Hydroponics: Grow plants directly in LECA with proper nutrient solutions for low-maintenance care.
