This herbaceous perennial forms a tight mat of tiny, aromatic green leaves. In early to mid-summer, it becomes covered in small rosy-pink to purple flowers that create a soft, colourful blanket across the ground. Sun Requirements ▾

Full sun. Provide at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day for dense growth, abundant flowering, and the strongest fragrance. Hot, sunny locations are generally well tolerated when drainage is excellent. Plants grown with too much shade may become thinner and produce fewer flowers.

Watering Instructions ▾

Low. Water regularly during establishment while allowing the soil to dry somewhat between waterings. Once established, Magic Carpet Creeping Thyme is drought tolerant and generally requires supplemental watering only during extended periods of hot, dry weather. Avoid consistently wet or waterlogged soil.

Care Tips ▾

Plant in well-draining soil and avoid overly rich or heavily fertilized conditions. Creeping Thyme performs especially well in sandy, gravelly, or rocky soils. Lightly shear or trim plants after flowering if necessary to maintain a dense, tidy carpet. Established plants can tolerate occasional light foot traffic, making them useful around stepping stones, but they are not suitable for heavily travelled pathways. A moisture meter is a great way to gauge your plant's moisture levels.
