Maya Growing Mediums Douglas Fir Bark is a horticultural-grade soil amendment designed to improve airflow, drainage, and structure in custom potting mixes. Ideal for orchids, bonsai, aroids, and tropical indoor plants, this bark helps create a healthier root environment by reducing compaction and increasing oxygen flow throughout the soil.

Made from 100% Douglas fir bark, this material is pre-heated, screened, and ready to use directly from the bag with no rinsing or preparation required. Its chunky texture blends easily with other soil-building ingredients such as coco coir, pumice, and specialty substrates, making it a versatile addition to custom growing mixes.

The durable bark structure creates natural air pockets that support root expansion while helping prevent soggy soil conditions. Slow to break down over time, it maintains structure longer than many organic amendments and helps keep mixes light and breathable.

This product is suitable for orchids, bonsai, tropical plants, and custom indoor plant soil blends where improved drainage and aeration are important. It can be used alone for select orchid applications or mixed into custom substrate recipes.

This product contains 100% Douglas fir bark and comes in a 3 litre size, enough to fill approximately five 4-inch nursery pots and one 6-inch nursery pot.
