Monstera siltepecana (Silver Monstera)
Monstera siltepecana (Silver Monstera)
Monstera siltepecana, commonly called Silver Monstera, is a tropical climbing houseplant known for its distinctive silvery juvenile foliage and contrasting dark green veins. Young leaves have an elongated shape with a metallic silver-green appearance, giving this species a noticeably different look from the larger, more familiar Monsteras.
Native to tropical regions of Central America, Monstera siltepecana is naturally a climbing aroid. When grown up a moss pole or other suitable support, the plant can develop increasingly large leaves as it matures. Mature foliage can eventually develop fenestrations, while plants allowed to trail generally retain more of their smaller juvenile leaf form. This makes Silver Monstera an excellent choice for either climbing displays or trailing from an elevated planter.
