Sun Requirements ▾

Fan Palms love bright, indirect light but can tolerate some direct sun. If you’re keeping it indoors, a spot near a sunny window will do nicely. For outdoor placement, partial shade is its sweet spot.

Watering Instructions ▾

Keep the soil consistently moist but never soggy—this isn’t a swamp plant, after all. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry, and reduce watering during the cooler months.

Care Tips ▾

Temperature: Livistona thrives in temperatures between 60–80°F (15–27°C). It’s not a fan (pun intended) of frost, so keep it cozy if the temperature drops. Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix, ideally one designed for palms or tropical plants. Humidity: Fan Palms appreciate a little extra humidity. Place it near a humidifier or mist it occasionally to keep those leaves looking their best. Fertilizer: Feed it a balanced palm fertilizer every couple of months during spring and summer. It’ll repay you with lush, vibrant fronds. Pruning: Remove any yellow or brown leaves at the base, but avoid cutting the green ones—it’s their lifeline! Repotting: This diva doesn’t like to be disturbed too often. Repot every 2–3 years or when it’s clearly outgrowing its current home.
