Sun Requirements ▾

Place your kokedama orchid in bright, indirect light. East- or west-facing windows are ideal, while filtered southern light works well. Avoid direct afternoon sun, which can burn the leaves. Consistent indirect light encourages healthy growth and reblooming.

Watering Instructions ▾

Watering a kokedama is different than a potted orchid. Submerge the moss ball in room-temperature water for 10–15 minutes once the moss begins to feel light and dry—usually every 5–7 days, depending on your environment. Allow it to fully drain before returning it to the stand. In drier conditions or during active blooming, watering may be needed more often. Never leave the moss ball sitting in water, as this can cause root rot.

Care Tips ▾

Temperature & Humidity: Maintain warm, stable conditions (65–80°F / 18–26°C) with moderate humidity. Light misting can help increase humidity around the moss ball. Fertilizing: Use a balanced orchid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 2–3 weeks during active growth. Submerge the kokedama in the fertilized solution just as you would when watering. After Blooming: Trim the flower spike above a node to encourage reblooming or cut it back to allow the orchid to rest before producing its next display. Stand Care: Ensure the moss ball drains fully before returning it to the stand to prevent excess moisture buildup.
