Philodendron Silver Stripe (Philodendron hederaceum ‘Silver Stripe’)

Philodendron Silver Stripe (Philodendron hederaceum ‘Silver Stripe’)

Philodendron Silver Stripe (Philodendron hederaceum ‘Silver Stripe’) is a rare and highly desirable tropical houseplant prized for its elegant heart-shaped leaves adorned with beautiful streaks of silver, cream, lime green, and deep emerald variegation. Each leaf displays a unique pattern, making every plant one of a kind while providing year-round colour and visual interest.

Its slender, trailing or climbing vines grow steadily in bright indoor conditions, making it equally attractive in hanging baskets, on shelves, or trained up a moss pole or trellis. As the plant matures and is given climbing support, it produces larger foliage with increasingly dramatic variegation. The glossy leaves create a lush tropical appearance while remaining relatively easy to care for, making Philodendron Silver Stripe an excellent choice for both collectors and everyday houseplant enthusiasts.

Philodendron Silver Stripe performs beautifully in hanging baskets, decorative pots, moss poles, trellises, plant shelves, and tropical indoor displays. It pairs exceptionally well with Monstera, Scindapsus, Syngonium, Anthurium, Hoya, and other rare aroids, creating lush collections filled with contrasting leaf shapes and colours.

Sun Requirements ▾

Bright indirect light. An LED grow light can help maintain healthy growth in spaces with limited natural light. Bright filtered light helps maintain the strongest silver and cream variegation while encouraging vigorous growth. Avoid prolonged direct afternoon sunlight, which may scorch the leaves.

Watering Instructions ▾

Water when the top 2–5 cm (1–2 inches) of soil begins to dry while keeping the potting mix lightly moist but never saturated. Allow excess water to drain completely and avoid letting the plant sit in standing water. Reduce watering slightly during winter.

Care Tips ▾

Provide a moss pole or climbing support if larger leaves are desired. Rotate the plant regularly for even growth and avoid removing healthy aerial roots, as they help the plant climb and absorb moisture. Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced houseplant fertilizer. A moisture meter is a great way to gauge your plant's moisture levels.
