Proven Winners® Firefly Fuchsia Yarrow (Achillea hybrid ‘Firefly Fuchsia’)

Proven Winners® Firefly Fuchsia Yarrow (Achillea hybrid ‘Firefly Fuchsia’) is a vibrant long-blooming perennial prized for its bold fuchsia-pink flower clusters and outstanding drought tolerance. This colourful yarrow produces large flattened blooms atop sturdy upright stems from early summer into fall, bringing strong colour and pollinator activity to perennial borders, prairie gardens, and sunny landscapes.

The vivid flower heads gradually soften in colour as they mature, creating beautiful tonal variation throughout the blooming season. Its finely textured fern-like foliage adds soft texture and remains attractive beneath the blooms while helping provide excellent heat and drought resistance once established. Butterflies, bees, and other beneficial pollinators are highly attracted to the nectar-rich flowers, making this variety an excellent addition to pollinator-friendly gardens.

In Alberta, Firefly Fuchsia Yarrow performs best in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil and moderate watering during establishment. Once mature, it thrives in hot dry Prairie summers and tolerates drought exceptionally well. Its upright habit and strong stems also make it an excellent cut flower for fresh and dried floral arrangements.

Sun Requirements ▾

Full sun is essential for the strongest flowering, best colour development, and healthiest growth. Plant in a location that receives at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Bright sunlight promotes abundant blooms, sturdy stems, and a compact growth habit. Plants grown in partial shade may become less dense and produce fewer flowers.

Watering Instructions ▾

Low to moderate. Water regularly during establishment, then only during extended dry periods. Established plants are highly drought tolerant and perform best in well-drained soils.

Care Tips ▾

Deadhead spent flowers to encourage additional blooms and maintain a tidy appearance. Divide mature clumps every few years to promote vigour and continued flowering.
