Proven Winners® Paint the Town Fancy Pinks (Dianthus hybrid ‘Paint the Town Fancy’) (PW)

Proven Winners® Paint the Town Fancy Pinks (Dianthus hybrid ‘Paint the Town Fancy’) (PW) is a compact hardy perennial prized for its vivid bright pink blooms, blue-green evergreen foliage, and spicy clove fragrance. Blooming heavily from late spring into summer, this colourful dianthus brings long-lasting colour, fragrance, and pollinator activity to perennial borders, rock gardens, edging, and patio containers.

The fringed bright pink flowers create a striking display above tidy mounded foliage that remains attractive throughout the growing season. Its compact habit makes it especially useful for front-of-border plantings, cottage gardens, and smaller landscape spaces where neat structure and continuous colour are desired. Bees and butterflies are highly attracted to the fragrant blooms during the flowering season.

In Alberta, Paint the Town Fancy Pinks performs best in full sun with sharply drained soil and moderate watering. It thrives during Prairie summers and develops excellent drought tolerance once established. Good drainage is especially important during winter months to maintain healthy perennial growth and prevent crown rot.

Sun Requirements ▾

Full sun is ideal for maximum flowering, vibrant bloom colour, and compact growth. Plant in a location that receives at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Bright sunlight encourages abundant blooms, healthy foliage, and the strongest reblooming performance. While light partial shade is tolerated, flowering and overall plant vigour are best when grown in full sun with good air circulation.

Watering Instructions ▾

Low to moderate. Water regularly during establishment, then allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Established plants are drought tolerant and perform best in well-drained conditions.

Care Tips ▾

Deadhead spent flowers regularly to encourage repeat blooming and maintain a tidy appearance. Avoid overly wet soils, particularly during winter, and divide mature clumps every few years to promote vigour.
