Proven Winners® Sage Advice Russian Sage (Perovskia atriplicifolia ‘Sage Advice’) (PW)
Proven Winners® Sage Advice Russian Sage (Perovskia atriplicifolia ‘Sage Advice’) (PW) is a hardy long-blooming perennial prized for its airy lavender-blue flower spikes, aromatic silver foliage, and exceptional drought tolerance. Blooming from mid-summer into fall, this elegant perennial adds soft texture, vertical movement, and pollinator appeal to prairie gardens, perennial borders, and sunny landscape plantings.
The finely textured silver-gray foliage creates a soft cloud-like appearance beneath masses of lavender-blue blooms that attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators throughout the growing season. Its upright branching habit provides excellent structure and movement in the garden while pairing beautifully with ornamental grasses, echinacea, rudbeckia, and other drought-tolerant perennials.
Unlike older Russian sage varieties that can become floppy, Sage Advice offers a more refined compact habit with improved branching and stronger stems. The aromatic foliage also provides excellent deer resistance while thriving in hot dry conditions with minimal maintenance.
In Alberta, Sage Advice Russian Sage performs best in full sun with sharply drained soil and moderate watering during establishment. Once mature, it thrives in hot Prairie summers and develops outstanding drought tolerance and winter hardiness.
