Proven Winners® Supertunia® Hoopla™ Vivid Orchid Petunia (Petunia hybrid ‘Supertunia Hoopla Vivid Orchid’)

Proven Winners® Supertunia® Hoopla™ Vivid Orchid Petunia (Petunia hybrid ‘Supertunia Hoopla Vivid Orchid’) is a striking trailing annual known for its vivid orchid-purple blooms accented by bright yellow star-shaped centres. This unique colour combination creates dramatic contrast and nonstop visual interest in hanging baskets, patio containers, window boxes, and landscape beds throughout the summer season.

The abundant trumpet-shaped flowers continuously blanket the plant from spring until frost while maintaining excellent weather resistance and strong garden performance. Its vigorous trailing and mounding habit allows it to quickly fill containers and spill gracefully over edges, creating lush cascading colour with minimal maintenance. Like all Supertunia® varieties, Hoopla™ Vivid Orchid is self-cleaning and continuously blooming without the need for constant deadheading.

In Alberta, Supertunia® Hoopla™ Vivid Orchid performs best in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil and regular watering. It thrives during hot Prairie summers and continues flowering heavily through changing weather conditions. Regular fertilizing helps maximize bloom production and maintain vigorous growth all season long.

Sun Requirements ▾

Full sun. Plant in a location receiving at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Full sun encourages the heaviest flowering, best branching, and the most vibrant flower colour.

Watering Instructions ▾

Moderate. Keep the soil evenly moist but well-drained. Container-grown plants may require daily watering during hot summer weather. Avoid allowing the soil to remain saturated.

Care Tips ▾

Apply a balanced water-soluble fertilizer regularly throughout the growing season to maintain vigorous growth and continuous flowering. Trim plants lightly in midsummer if they become overly long to encourage fresh branching and renewed blooms. A moisture meter is a great way to gauge your plant's moisture levels.
