Proven Winners® Whipped Cream Pinks (Dianthus hybrid ‘Whipped Cream’) (PW)

Proven Winners® Whipped Cream Pinks (Dianthus hybrid ‘Whipped Cream’) (PW) is a compact evergreen perennial prized for its elegant creamy white blooms, spicy clove fragrance, and tidy blue-green foliage. Blooming heavily from late spring into summer, this refined dianthus adds soft colour, fragrance, and pollinator appeal to perennial borders, rock gardens, edging, and patio containers.

The fringed white flowers create a crisp clean display above dense mounded foliage that remains attractive throughout the growing season. Its compact habit makes it ideal for front-of-border plantings and smaller garden spaces where neat structure and continuous flowering are desired. The lightly fragrant blooms attract bees and butterflies while pairing beautifully with colourful perennials and ornamental grasses in cottage-style landscapes.

In Alberta, Whipped Cream Pinks performs best in full sun with sharply drained soil and moderate watering. It thrives during Prairie summers and develops excellent drought tolerance once established. Proper drainage during winter is especially important to maintain healthy perennial crowns and reliable long-term performance.

Sun Requirements ▾

Full sun is ideal for the heaviest flowering, strongest fragrance, and most compact growth habit. Plant in a location that receives at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Bright sunlight promotes abundant blooms and healthy foliage. While light partial shade is tolerated, flowering and overall plant performance are best in full sun with excellent air circulation.

Watering Instructions ▾

Low to moderate. Water regularly during establishment, then allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Established plants are relatively drought tolerant.

Care Tips ▾

Deadhead spent blooms regularly to encourage repeat flowering. Avoid overly wet soils, especially during winter, and divide mature clumps every few years to maintain vigour.
