Purple d'Oro Daylily (Hemerocallis ‘Purple d'Oro’)
Purple d'Oro Daylily (Hemerocallis ‘Purple d'Oro’)
Purple d'Oro Daylily (Hemerocallis ‘Purple d'Oro’) is a compact reblooming perennial prized for its rich purple blooms, bright golden-yellow throats, and exceptionally long flowering season. This hardy daylily produces abundant trumpet-shaped flowers from early summer into fall, bringing continuous colour and easy-care beauty to perennial borders, edging, mass plantings, and sunny landscape beds.
The velvety purple flowers create dramatic contrast against the arching green foliage while attracting bees, butterflies, and other pollinators throughout the blooming season. Its compact clumping growth habit makes it especially useful for smaller gardens, pathway edging, patio containers, and front-of-border plantings where long-lasting colour is desired.
Like other daylilies, each bloom lasts only a single day, but the plant continuously produces new flower buds over an extended period, creating reliable reblooming performance throughout Prairie summers. The grassy foliage remains attractive and tidy even when not in bloom, adding texture and structure to landscape plantings.
In Alberta, Purple d'Oro Daylily performs best in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil and moderate watering during establishment. Once mature, it develops excellent drought tolerance, winter hardiness, and adaptability to a wide range of garden conditions.
