Santo Cilantro Seeds by West Coast Seeds (Coriandrum sativum)

Santo Cilantro Seeds by West Coast Seeds (Coriandrum sativum)

Santo Cilantro Seeds by West Coast Seeds (Coriandrum sativum) produce aromatic, bright green leaves with classic cilantro flavour and strong garden performance. This variety is known for improved bolt resistance, making it suitable for extended leaf harvests. This listing is for seed packets only and does not include live plants.

Coriandrum sativum is a cool-season annual herb grown for both its fresh leaves (cilantro) and dried seeds (coriander). ‘Santo’ is a slow-bolting selection that performs reliably in spring and fall gardens. Plants develop upright stems with finely divided foliage and may reach flowering stage if not harvested regularly.

This dual-purpose herb is widely used in culinary applications, with leaves harvested fresh and seeds allowed to mature for spice use.

Sun Requirements ▾

Full sun to partial sun is ideal. Provide at least 4–6 hours of direct sunlight daily. In warmer climates, light afternoon shade may help delay bolting. Insufficient light may reduce leaf production.

Watering Instructions ▾

Maintain evenly moist soil during germination and active growth. Avoid allowing soil to dry out completely, as moisture stress can trigger premature bolting. Do not allow soil to remain waterlogged, as excessive moisture may lead to root issues.

Care Tips ▾

Santo Cilantro grows best in well-draining, moderately fertile soil. It prefers cool to mild temperatures and average outdoor humidity. Heat accelerates bolting, so succession planting during cooler seasons improves yields. Good airflow supports healthy foliage. Direct sow Santo Cilantro seeds outdoors in early spring once soil can be worked, or again in late summer for fall harvest. Seeds germinate best in soil temperatures between 10–20°C. Plants typically mature for leaf harvest in approximately 45–55 days. Allow flowers to form and seeds to mature if harvesting coriander. Regular leaf harvesting encourages continued growth before bolting.
