Siskiyou Evening Primrose (Oenothera speciosa ‘Siskiyou’)

Siskiyou Evening Primrose (Oenothera speciosa ‘Siskiyou’)

Siskiyou Evening Primrose is a spreading perennial valued for its soft pink, cup-shaped flowers and long blooming season. This cultivar of Oenothera speciosa is known for its delicate appearance and ability to thrive in tough, dry conditions.

This herbaceous perennial forms a low, spreading mat of green foliage. From late spring through summer, it produces an abundance of pale pink flowers with deeper veining and yellow centres. The blooms open in daylight and attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies, adding movement and life to the garden.

Siskiyou Evening Primrose is well-suited for groundcover, borders, rock gardens, and naturalized plantings. Its spreading habit makes it effective for filling spaces and controlling erosion in sunny areas.

Sun Requirements ▾

Full sun. Provide at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day for strong growth and abundant flowering. Light partial shade may be tolerated, but plants generally flower most heavily and maintain their best habit in open, sunny locations.

Watering Instructions ▾

Low to moderate. Water regularly during establishment, then allow the soil to dry somewhat between waterings. Once established, Siskiyou Evening Primrose has good drought tolerance and generally performs well with occasional deep watering during extended dry periods. Avoid persistently waterlogged soil.

Care Tips ▾

Remove faded flowers if a tidier appearance is desired, although extensive deadheading is generally unnecessary. Plants can be trimmed after the main flowering period to encourage fresh growth and control their spread. Because Siskiyou Evening Primrose can spread vigorously under favourable conditions, remove unwanted shoots or divide established colonies as needed. A moisture meter is a great way to gauge your plant's moisture levels.
