Dolce® Sultry Night Coral Bells (Heuchera ‘Sultry Night’) – Proven Winners®

Dolce® Sultry Night Coral Bells (Heuchera ‘Sultry Night’) – Proven Winners®

Dolce® Sultry Night Coral Bells is a Proven Winners® perennial valued for its deep, dark foliage and contrasting soft pink flower sprays. This cultivar of Heuchera is selected for its rich leaf colour and strong garden performance across a range of conditions.

This herbaceous perennial forms a dense, mounded clump of glossy, nearly black leaves with subtle burgundy undertones. In late spring to early summer, airy sprays of small pink flowers rise above the foliage on slender stems, adding lightness and contrast. The blooms attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies.

Sultry Night Heuchera is well-suited for shaded borders, woodland gardens, and container planting. Its dark foliage provides strong contrast in mixed plantings and works well in both modern and naturalized landscape designs.

Sun Requirements ▾

Partial sun to partial shade. Morning sunlight followed by protection from intense afternoon sun provides excellent growing conditions. Some gentle sunlight helps maintain rich foliage colour, while excessive hot afternoon exposure can scorch or stress the leaves. In cooler climates, plants can tolerate more sunlight when adequate soil moisture is available.

Watering Instructions ▾

Moderate. Keep the soil evenly moist during establishment, then allow the upper layer to dry slightly between waterings. Established plants tolerate brief dry periods but perform best with consistent moisture. Avoid waterlogged soil, particularly during winter.

Care Tips ▾

Plant with the crown at or slightly above soil level, as burying the crown too deeply can contribute to rot. Apply mulch around the root zone to conserve moisture and moderate soil temperatures, but avoid piling mulch directly against the crown. Remove damaged foliage in early spring as fresh growth emerges. Excellent drainage is particularly important for successful overwintering. A moisture meter is a great way to gauge your plant's moisture levels.
