Tango Celery (Apium graveolens var. dulce ‘Tango’)

Tango Celery (Apium graveolens var. dulce ‘Tango’)

Tango Celery (Apium graveolens var. dulce ‘Tango’) is a premium celery variety prized for its crisp texture, rich flavour, and exceptionally tender stalks. Widely regarded as one of the easiest celery varieties to grow, Tango produces vigorous plants with excellent disease resistance and fewer fibrous strings than many traditional celery varieties.

The bright green stalks are thick, juicy, and packed with fresh celery flavour, making them perfect for snacking, salads, soups, stews, stir-fries, and fresh vegetable trays. Unlike some older celery varieties, Tango maintains excellent eating quality over a wide harvest window, allowing gardeners to harvest stalks as needed throughout the season.

Tango is valued for its vigorous growth, adaptability, and ability to perform well in a variety of growing conditions. The plants develop upright, uniform stalks that remain tender and flavourful while offering excellent garden productivity. Its improved texture and ease of cultivation make it a favourite among both beginner and experienced vegetable gardeners.

In Alberta, Tango Celery performs exceptionally well when provided with consistent moisture and fertile soil, producing abundant harvests throughout the summer and into fall.

Sun Requirements ▾

Full sun is ideal for vigorous growth and high-quality stalk production. Plant in a location that receives at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Bright sunlight promotes strong growth, thick stalk development, and maximum yields. In hotter regions, light afternoon shade can help reduce moisture stress, but full sun generally produces the best harvests.

Watering Instructions ▾
