Thripex-V – Neoseiulus cucumeris Predatory Mites for Thrips Control
Thripex-V contains live Neoseiulus cucumeris, a predatory mite used for the biological control of thrips, particularly during the early larval stages. It is commonly used in greenhouse, nursery, and indoor growing environments as part of an integrated pest management (IPM) program to prevent thrips populations from establishing.
Neoseiulus cucumeris feeds primarily on first-instar thrips larvae, helping reduce pest pressure before visible damage occurs. This predatory mite can also survive on pollen when prey is limited, allowing it to establish preventatively on plants and remain active until pest pressure increases. Because it targets thrips early in their life cycle, Thripex-V is most effective when applied before or at the very first signs of infestation.
Thripex-V is typically applied by gently rotating the container and sprinkling the mites directly onto plant foliage or into distribution sachets placed on plants. It is well suited for preventative use and ongoing maintenance in environments where thrips pressure is expected or historically present. Avoid applying during extreme heat or direct sunlight to ensure optimal establishment.
This predatory mite performs best in moderate temperatures, generally between 15–30°C (59–86°F), and prefers moderate humidity levels. Thripex-V should be applied soon after delivery and should not be refrigerated, as cold storage can negatively impact mite viability.
Thripex-V is suitable for use on ornamental plants, vegetables, herbs, and indoor plant collections and is an excellent choice for growers seeking a natural, chemical-free solution to thrips management within an IPM or organic growing system.
