Weeping Caragana (Caragana arborescens ‘Pendula’)
Weeping Caragana (Caragana arborescens ‘Pendula’)
Weeping Caragana (Caragana arborescens ‘Pendula’) is a hardy ornamental tree valued for its graceful, cascading branches and fine-textured foliage. This grafted form of Siberian peashrub creates a distinctive umbrella-like shape, making it an excellent focal point in landscape designs.
In spring, the tree produces small yellow pea-like flowers, followed by seed pods typical of the species. Its light green foliage provides a soft, airy texture throughout the growing season before turning yellow in fall.
Well-adapted to harsh Prairie conditions, Weeping Caragana is extremely cold-hardy and tolerant of wind, drought, and poor soils once established. It is especially suited to Alberta landscapes where durability and low maintenance are important.
