Xanthosoma ‘Lindenii’ (Xanthosoma lindenii)

Xanthosoma ‘Lindenii’ (Xanthosoma lindenii)

Xanthosoma ‘Lindenii’ (Xanthosoma lindenii) is a striking tropical foliage plant admired for its elongated, arrow-shaped leaves marked with bold, creamy-white veining against deep green backgrounds. The dramatic contrast between the prominent veins and rich leaf surface gives the plant a graphic, almost hand-painted appearance. Its refined yet exotic foliage makes it a standout addition to indoor plant collections focused on texture and pattern.

Native to tropical regions of Central and South America, Xanthosoma lindenii belongs to the Araceae family and thrives in warm, humid environments. Indoors, it delivers upright growth with elegant, structured foliage that adds height and visual interest to bright rooms. Though sometimes associated with Alocasia due to its leaf shape and venation, it remains botanically classified within the Xanthosoma genus.

Highly valued by collectors for its ornamental foliage, Xanthosoma ‘Lindenii’ performs best in environments that mimic its tropical origins. When provided with consistent warmth and humidity, it becomes a refined focal point in contemporary and tropical-inspired interiors.

Sun Requirements ▾

Prefers bright, indirect light. Think near a north or east-facing window, or behind a sheer curtain in a sunnier spot. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the delicate foliage. Low light will lead to slow growth and faded variegation, so aim for well-lit but gentle conditions.

Watering Instructions ▾

Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Keep the soil evenly moist but not soggy. Xanthosoma lindenii does not tolerate drying out completely—it will start to wilt and crisp quickly if neglected. In winter, reduce watering slightly as growth slows.

Care Tips ▾

Loves high humidity—ideally over 60%. If your air is dry, consider a humidifier, pebble tray, or regular misting. Use a well-draining aroid mix with components like peat, perlite, and bark. Prefers temperatures between 18–26°C (65–78°F). Keep it away from cold drafts and sudden temperature drops. Fertilize monthly during the growing season (spring/summer) with a diluted, balanced fertilizer.
